BLS Course: Save Lives in Times of Emergency

Basic Life Support, or BLS, is the kind of care or support system offered to any person suffering from cardiac arrest, respiratory problem, or obstruction of the airway. Healthcare professionals, public safety professionals, or first responders provide this support or care.

A structured BLS course and training is required to provide this support. Through the BLS Course, a person learns about cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the training makes him/her skilled in using automated external defibrillators (AED) and giving relief to patients suffering from airway obstructions.

First Aid Fast

A First Aid instructor trains adults and young people to learn alertness and provide emergency aid to a suddenly injured person. A First Aid instructor conducts different courses to teach people how to respond to a situation when a person is injured and arrange for the proper treatment at the earliest. They should make the trainees alert and efficient enough to handle emergencies.

Basic First Aid Training helps the recipients to have basic first aid knowledge, awareness, and skills so that they can respond to emergencies confidently. This training is very suitable for both the community and workers of an organization.

The American Safety & Health Institute based in Eugene, Grand Rapids, and Vancouver, provides pieces of training in Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, Basic First Aid, Advanced First Aid, Advanced Bleeding Control, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. They also provide opportunities to become an instructor.

Why is Knowledge About First Aid Necessary?

Severe and life-threatening medical emergencies frequently contribute to a loss of oxygen in the bloodstream, putting the patient at risk of shock. The ASHI Emergency Oxygen service focuses on the provision of emergency oxygen to breathing and non-breathing individuals, emergency oxygen delivery systems, and pulse oximetry incorporation.

Becoming a teacher with the Institute of Health & Safety is a natural process to complete in just a few stages. Answering a few quick questions can start the check that you are qualified to become an instructor — or get you the training you need — and lead you along the right track.

The ASHI and MEDIC First Aid Oxygen Development Course (IDC) is an effective way pursue either avenue, whether you are an entrepreneur looking to start your own emergency care training business or the newly designated training coordinator at your company or agency. The IDC combines an initial online learning session using a blended training approach to develop cognitive understanding, followed by a one-day, in-person classroom session to practice instructional skills.

Successful completion of the Training on First Aid by itself does not allow an ASHI or MEDIC First Aid training course and issuance of qualification cards to a teacher applicant. Candidates who have completed the IDC must be associated with an accredited Training Center to apply for authorization for a teacher. Candidates for First Aid Instructors may also set up their training centre.
